Edward De Bono op de ECCI XI Conference

Afgelopen week vond te Brussel de 11de European Conference Conference on Creativity and Innovation (ECCI XI) plaats.
Edward de Bono is regarded as the global leading authority in the field of creative and conceptual thinking. An MD, PHD and Rhodes Scholar, he has authored 72 books in 41 languages. His instruction in thinking has been sought by major corporations such as IBM, Microsoft, Shell, Prudential, GM, Ford, and Citicorp to name a few. His work is in use in thousands of schools worldwide, and mandatory on the curriculum in some countries.

13:44:00 Creativity is easy if you know how to do it.
13:44:49 If you generate the idea, you might not be the best person to use it.
13:45:15 You may come up with an idea, but not be the best person to make it to use
13:45:25 the originator of the idea may not be the best implementor
13:47:33 Aristotle thought men had more teeth than women. He was married twice and didnt ask his wives to open their mouth and look into it
13:48:06 Socrates thought he had more teeth than his wife because male horses have more teeth than females. Tipically Socrates
13:48:20 The Greek philosophers (Plato, Socrates and Aristoteles) delivered the Software of Thinking we still use. Early APIs so to speak.
13:48:21 We haven't used thinking to create value --> not enough designing a way forward
13:49:23 Since the Greeks 3, our thinking has been designed to discover truth, not value
13:51:17 Humor tells us more about the brain than anything else
13:52:39 creative ideas are logical in hindsight, often invisible in foresight
13:53:10 Creativity is logical in hindsight and invisible in foresight.
13:53:33 Every creative idea is logical in hindsight. But invisible in foresight. Thinking patterns are asymmetric.
13:54:01 Creativity is assymetric I wonder how this is related to systemic thinking.
13:54:08 Challenge even the best ideas!
13:54:36 You must challenge even the best ideas. Sound easy, but in practice it's not
13:55:41 Look for dominant ideas, conceptions and challenge them!
13:58:09 What is the dominant perception and challenge it. Not to prove it wrong, but to see what other possibilities arise
14:01:15 1st technique: CHALLENGE dominant concepts about your idea
14:02:00 2nd technique: whats the concept behind an idea
14:03:17 If youre interested in defining a concept use the x is a way of doing y phrase x = idea y = concept.
14:03:24 Look at the idea, extract the concept and try and find other ways of delivering it.
14:06:51 When the Chinese start 2 think, practice your dancing because the rest of the world is going 2 be a toutist attraction
14:07:32 De Bono's ideas may be implemented in hundreds of thousands of Chinese schools. His advice practice your thinking.
14:10:39 Challenge by De Bono: you save money by trying a new idea. How? the audience is thinking. Some even out loud
14:13:09 4th technique --> use chance (random word technique)
14:20:01 Argument is a primitive way of deciding things. 6 thinking hats offer a better way
14:30:12 www.debonosociety.com if you want to discuss anything de Bono related.
14:34:54 Edward De Bono has an asteroid named to him. edebono
14:36:22 The mechanism of mind, written in 69. 40 years later it is proven right.

2 Bedenking(en) :
